Right on!

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a good weekend!  I had a great time, but I got a sunburn...  When Yoshi came over yesterday (Sunday) to record the podcast, I looked like a cooked lobster!  笑

The new episode will be out at 10:00am on Thursday...  But to start the week, let's take a look at another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!  He posts something new everyday.

"Right on!"

A: Let's get some pizza for dinner.
B: Right on!

A: I got a promotion at work!
B: Right on!

A: I finally told my boss I want a raise and he agreed.
B: Right on.

That's it!

If only Yoshi would stop talking about his bike...

It's hump day!  (Wednesday is called "hump" day because it is in the middle of the week)

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  We will release a brand new episode tomorrow at 10:00am.  I think it will be a good one!  But for now, let's take a look at another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!  He posts something new everyday.

皆さんは「If only...」 は「I wish...」 「I wish...」 例えば「I wish it would stop raining.」:雨が止んだらいい。

「If only...」

「If only my dog would come home.」

「If only...」

A: If only I could find a new job...

B: Don' stress it. I'm sure you'll find something soon.

A: I really hate our boss.

B: Yeah, if only he'd retire...

A: If only I could meet him one more time...

B: You should just forget about him and move on.

That's it!

The Spiciest Chili Peppers in the World!

Hello!

TGIF!

(Thank God It's Friday)

In the last two episodes, I have talked about "Ghost Chilies"...  So I decided to make a blog post about "The Hottest Chili Spice Set on Earth!"

I LOVE spicy food...  Maybe too much! 笑

My friend is from San Francisco, and he bought me this chili set while he was visiting his hometown.

To be honest, I was afraid to try it!  I kept it in my refridgerator for months.  Then about one month ago, I finally tried the "Ghost Chilies".

The Ghost Chilies are the least spicy of the three.  Here you can see how spicy they are compared to other chilies.

It was super spicy!  You only need to use a little bit.  I have been eating the Ghost Chilies for about one month, but still I have only used about half.

The Ghost chilies have a really nice smoky flavor too.  I was surprised that the taste wasn't just pure spicy.

After the Ghost Chilies are finished I'll try the...

....SCORPION CHILIES!!!

Then if that doesn't kill me, I'll try the...

...REAPER CHILIES!!!!!!!

Surely I'll be dead or in a coma (昏睡状態) after that! 笑

If, IF! If you are a true 黒帯 Spice Master, and you have a chance, try the spiciest chili peppers!

But be careful!  ...And don't touch the chilis with your fingers.

Spicy Chilis!  Yeah!

[ワンポイント] I doubt it!

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Yoshi and I recorded two episodes on the weekend.  On Sunday we released "Strange News" (Big Baby Yoshi 笑), and we will release ep103 this Thursday at 10:00am.  Actually, I was reeeeeally tired when we recorded it.  It's not super 元気, but maybe it will be interesting...  We talked about the education system in Japan vs Canada...

Annnnnnyway, let's take a look at another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!  He posts something new everyday.

I doubt...

この間「I bet...」 「I bet...」 「I bet...」 「I doubt...」は「I don't think...」

I bet he'll be late

I think he'll be late

I don't think he'll be late.

I doubt he'll be late.

A: I doubt it will rain. Let's have a picnic.

B: Are you crazy? It's January!

A: I doubt you'll pass your interview. You should start looking for another job.

B: That's not a nice thing to say.

A: Do you think she remembers my name?

B: I doubt it.

Give it a try!

That's it!

Morning smoothie!

Hello friends!

I haven't made a blog post about food or cooking for a long time.  Has anyone tried cooking with bacon fat, I wonder?

I think a lot of people are worried about health and diet.  Last time I wrote about bacon fat, so this time I'm writing about something more healthy...  Yes, definitely more healthy than bacon fat. 笑

Morning smoothies!

I don't like "dieting" because "diets" end.  Sometimes it's one week, sometimes it's one month...

I like CHANGE.  If you want to be more healthy and lose weight long-term, you have to make a change.

It's difficult to change your diet completely.  I think it is better to just change one thing, and stick to it.  For me, that was breakfast.

Since I decided to change (数年前から), my breakfast every weekday (平日) has been a smoothie!  It's fast, easy, and delicious!

The "base" for my morning smoothie is always lots of spinach and blueberries, and a little bit of fruit juice (100ml)

Then I add 2 or 3 more things, but change it all the time so I don't get tired of it.  Almost any combination is delicious!

Here are my suggestions:

-Half a banana

-1/3 of a kiwi

-Strawberries

-Frozen mango (no added sugar)

-Frozen mixed berries

-Greek yogurt

-Soy milk

-Acai (it's good but too expensive!)

Just choose 2 or 3 more things, and put them in your blender!

My blender is small and not very strong, so I have to blend it for a long time...

Action shot! 笑

Now it's ready to drink!  Enjoy!  *Gulp.. Gulp.. Gulp...  Aaahhhhh Delicious!*

I love BACON, but if I eat it everyday, I might turn into a pig!

I have a smoothie every weekday for breakfast, and I think it has helped me a lot.  It is nutricious (栄養たっぷり), but very light, so sometimes I get hungry around 11:00am.  When that happens, I eat one handful of almonds or drink a cup of coffee.  No sweets or snacks!  笑

*Smoothie black-belt secret tip!

If you drink alcohol, try adding a 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder!  turmeric is reeeeeealllllllly good for you - especially your liver!  Since I started adding turmeric powder, I never have a hangover!!

The taste is quite strong, so be careful not to add too much - just a little everyday.

You could also add 青汁 or other healthy powders.  That's the great thing about smoothies!  You can add anything you want!

Smoothies!  Yeah!!

I bet you anything!

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  It is Tuesday already!  Wow!  Episode 101 will be out Thursday (the day after tomorrow) at 10:00 AND we will have a "Strange News" episode on Sunday!

Annnnnnyway, let's take a look at another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!  He posts something new everyday.

"I bet..."

は「I think..」

I think he'll be late.

Vs.

I bet he'll be late.

「I bet...」は「I think..」 なので「I bet...」

A: I bet he forgets my birthday.

B: You really should break up with him.

C: I bet I could beat you at chess.

D: Don't make me laugh!

*(Extra from エイブ)

I bet よりも強く言いたいときは "I bet you anything..."

例: I bet you anything Yoshi will talk about his bicycle again.

We "ended up" getting drunk. (for #100)

Happy Monday!

Wow!  What a busy weekend!  Yoshi and I recorded Saturday night, and Sunday morning.  On Saturday night we recorded episode 100...  So it got a little crazy! 笑  It will be our longest podcast, and the most silly...  We will release it this Thursday at 10:00am.

Annnnnnyway, let's start the week with another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!  He posts something new everyday.

One-point English

I ended up walking home in the rain.

I ended up eating McDonald's for breakfast.

After our big fight my girlfriend and I ended up breaking up.

After much consideration, I ended up buying a new BMW.

Give it a try!

Happy Monday!

Yoshi and I will be recording again this Monday evening.  The last time we recorded on a Monday it was the "東京レディボーイズ" episode, so I hope we can make another good(←? 笑) one today!  We will release it this Thursday at 10:00am.

Annnnnnyway, let's start the week with another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!

One-point English

1. No problem.

2. Don't mention it.

3. Don't worry about it.

4. No worries.

5. (It's) my pleasure. Yew!! 笑

-------------

今度、「Thank you.」

Save the fat!!!

Everybody loves bacon!   Right?  RIGHT!!??? 笑

If you don't love bacon, you are probably Jewish, or Muslim, or vegetarian. (宗教でベーコン食べれない方とか) ...or just crazy. 笑  It’s delicious!

Good quality bacon can be difficult to find in Japan, and it is a little expensive.  This is thick-cut American bacon.  I found it in an imported goods store.

It was about 1,000yen for 453g.  So, a little expensive, but it’s worth it!  Here’s the reason:

Bacon fat!

This is a cooking trick my Dad taught me:

When you cook good quality bacon, there will be a lot of fat left over in the pan.  Don't throw it away!

Tip the pan and pour the bacon fat into a glass container, or a small coffee cup.

If you strain it, you can keep it for a long time.  If you will use it within about a week, you don't need to strain it.  (濾したら結構長く持てるけど一週間以内に使う予定だったら濾さなくても大丈夫) Cover the container with saran-wrap and keep it in the fridge.

When it cools it will become solid.

You can use bacon fat instead of oil or butter when you cook other foods.  You will get a delicious bacon taste and smell from the fat (but not too strong).

I usually use bacon fat when I cook fried rice, eggs (fried or scrambled), and stir-fried vegetables.  You can also use it to greese baking pans.  I use it to greese the baking pan when I make a quiche

So, when you buy good quality bacon, you can eat delicous bacon AND get bacon fat to use in other foods too!  Also, it's good for your skin!

Bacon fat!  Yeah!!

Who knows!?!?

Happy Monday!

Will this be a good week?  Who knows!?!  Yoshi and I will record a new episode after work today, so that should be fun!  We will release it this Thursday at 10:00am.

Annnnnnyway, let's start the week with another “One-point English” lesson(日本語の説明付き!), from Dave (デイブ).  If you want more, please check out his website!

One-point English

Who knows.って聞いたことありますか?「who knows」は「I don't know」より強いインパクトが表します。

A: Where's John?
B: Who knows.

A: Why is Trump so stupid?
B: Who knows.

A:Will Gogoエイブ会話 become the #1 podcast in Japan?

B:Who knows...  But write a review in itunes to help us! (5☆pls
